About this coffee

The Decaf Honduras Copan SWP comes from the Copán region in southwestern Honduras, near the historic city of Copán Ruinas, an area known for producing some of the finest coffees in Central America. Farms in this region benefit from fertile soils, high elevations—typically above 1,000 meters—and a range of microclimates that support high quality coffee.

Honduras has become a significant global coffee producer, ranking among the top countries for Arabica production by volume. Since the early 2000s, the country has shifted its focus from quantity to quality, supported by improvements in infrastructure and processing. Investments in mechanical dryers, centralized wet mills, and solar drying systems, along with increased lot separation and traceability, have helped elevate the overall standard of Honduran coffee.

Today, a strong network of specialty-focused exporters and cooperatives continues to drive this progress, positioning Honduras as a leading origin for high-quality coffees.

This coffee is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process, a chemical-free method that removes caffeine using water, temperature, and time while preserving the coffee’s original character.

The Decaf Swiss Water Process Honduras Copán is a rich and satisfying coffee, defined by notes of dark chocolate, toffee, and roasted walnut. The profile is grounded and deeply sweet, with a full, coating body and a low but present acidity. Think a subtle hint of orange peel rather than a sharp citric edge. A decaf that delivers genuine complexity and a consistently satisfying cup across every roast level.

In lighter roasts, the coffee opens with brown sugar, caramel, and roasted nuts with a creamy, juicy quality and hints of almond brittle. At medium, toffee, walnut, orange peel, and chocolate integrate into a smooth, coating cup with a lingering finish. Moving into medium-dark, molasses and burnt sugar emerge alongside dark chocolate and cocoa powder, creating a syrupy, full-bodied experience. In darker roasts, the coffee becomes dense and rich, with bakers chocolate, cacao nib, and roasted walnut settling into a silky, mocha-like finish. No matter the roast level, this coffee delivers a consistently sweet, nutty, and chocolatey cup that is both comforting and solid.
