About this coffee
Colombia El Silencio Pink Bourbon comes from El Silencio, the farm of Robinson Rivera in Piendamó, Cauca. This lot highlights the Pink Bourbon variety grown at elevations between 1,700 and 2,100 meters above sea level. Robinson is a coffee producer from the central region of Cauca, a department located in the south of Colombia, and the founder of the Association of Coffee Growers from Central Cauca for Peace (ACC).
The association was created in 2016 in Piendamó with the purpose of improving coffee quality from the region, impacting growers from the crop through delivery. Although Robinson was young, without significant financial resources, and did not have the opportunity to finish middle school, he wanted to positively impact people around him who were involved in illegal crop trade. With the goal of adding value to coffee and improving income, he helped create an alternative that would encourage producers to replace coca trees with coffee trees.
ACC currently has 77 associates with an average farm size of 1.5 hectares, located at elevations ranging from 1,700 to 2,100 meters above sea level. The association supports its members through quality analysis and feedback, including a certified Q grader and a small QC lab. In addition, Robinson and his brother have designed and built a small wet mill capable of advanced fermentation processes, further supporting quality and consistency across lots.
