This lot is women-produced. Sierra Azul is a relatively new cooperative founded in 2010 by young people in the community who had grown up in coffee and were looking for opportunities to create sustainable livelihoods in Chiapas rather than immigrate to the United States. In fact, one producer that the Bellwether team met immigrated to Utah and worked as a farmer before returning to his community to produce coffee.
